Yesterday I upgraded to 2.6.27-2. Today, I boot the computer and find that when it starts it makes a very strange sound. Thinking on a HD failure, I turn off the machine quickly. Later, I found that it was MPD using the PC speaker as the output device instead the sound card.
Blacklisting module snd_pcsp seems to solve the issue.
Maybe it worth mention that I had blacklisted pcspkr module.

To be honest I don't get why the kernel devs even added this thing...

Oh, thx for solution. Found out today too. Though I was kinda confused by VLC, which had no problems with playing sound, while Amarok and JuK failed. I kinda started to think, that there's some problem with KDE.
By the way, kernel 2.6.27.1 still has this problem.

We talked about 2.6.27-2 (the second package of 2.6.27 kernel), not about 2.6.27.2 which by now is not in any repo.
As a quick fix, you can try to downgrade the kernel: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Downgrade_packages

Thanks a lot. Noalwin's post solved my problem as well.

you think it will be fixed in the next update? I was only asking if I have to do some changes in the modules, if not I can wait.
