ABS makepkg -cs

I've been following the wiki to a t. Got down to http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beg … ion_to_ABS

I get the error when I do "makepkg -cs" (as non root, obviously). I cannot seem to be able to get past it, as I get errors. The first error scrolls by too fast and I have to ctrl z to catch it.

"ERROR: Pacman returned a fatal error (1)"

The second is at the end.

"cfg.cpp:212: error: 'strtol' was not declared in this scope
make: *** [cfg.o] Error 1
==> ERROR: Build failed
Aborting."

I hear I have to do something with GCC and I've been provided with links, but I cannot seem to understand what the heck it is I'm supposed to do.

[edit] I solved the first error by using "sudo chmod 755 /var/lib/pacman" and "sudo chmod 755 /var/cache/pacman" allowing non-root user to run pacman.

the second error still remains.
