I don't use enlightenment but I did notice that a new version is coming out.
And it looks great.
New Theme:
Which I really like.
Here's a list of improvements:
# Merge init splash files and theme - they are now the same file and init splash is just part of the theme file. Simplicity.
# Trim down E's base install. We removed the splash entirely saving 1.7M. The default theme went from 2.4 to 1.4M. This is 2.7M of disk space you no longer need.
# Trim E's source tree. The source tarball dropped from a whopping 32M for the tar.bz2 file to 5.3M. That's 26.7M less stuff to ship in a release tarball.
# A newer better look. See the screenshot above. This is the look we are moving to. It's classic. It's classy. It's simple yet appealing. It doesn't offend too many people with any garish colour choices.
# Easier work on the last features for E17 like wizard and filemanager as the theme is simpler this work is also simpler.
# Better scaling support now for high-dpi displays like on phones and PDA's (Freerunner, N800, Treo650 etc.). The new B&W theme auto-scales (if the user has selected scaling to be enabled in E17's config) to DPI.
# Documentation of the theme is much much much better.

I've tried it a number of times over the years and it just never stuck with me. Any real advantages besides aesthetics?

I love E17 for its speed and eyecandy, but I'm a little bit spoiled, wanting most other features like a stable system tray, so I stick to others ATM.

You're welcome.
If anyone is interested, you can make the menu items larger. It's become harder the newer the theme is to make it look the way I would like it to look. Anyway, search for the string:
/* this is the actual text label for the menu item */
In the same section you'll see the line 'font: "Sans";'. Change the size option right under it to something larger and recompile.

It's better than that outdated gold bling theme but I still prefer the detour theme. Now if they could make some nice apps based on EFL. I'd love to have a native text editor, terminal, file manager or web browser with out using gtk based apps. It would give a more uniform feel to the whole desktop and a better user experience.

Complaining doesn't help much most of the time. How about starting to code something yourself?

Wow, didn't realize I was complaining. Thanks.
