I'm using SLiM and .xinitrc to start my xsessions. Awesome loads perfectly but ratpoison wont load.
Here's my .xinitrc
exec scmpc &
exec feh --bg-scale /home/samwalton/Pictures/archlinux-wallpaper-1.2/archlinux-poolclouds-43.jpg &
exec xcompmgr -c -t-5 -l-5 -r4.2 -o.55 &
exec ratpoison
I've also tried
exec scmpc &
exec feh --bg-scale /home/samwalton/Pictures/archlinux-wallpaper-1.2/archlinux-poolclouds-43.jpg &
exec xcompmgr -c -t-5 -l-5 -r4.2 -o.55 &
exec /usr/share/ratpoison
Any idea why it's not working, or which files I should look at to find out? (I've looked in .xession-errors, there isn't anything useful there).

I would be better if you could get some error messages. Log into a terminal and start X with 'startx' - that should give you some output.
EDIT: or take a look at /var/log/Xorg.[n].log, where [n] is 0 or 1 - they get automatically rotated, so if your X restarts, the last one (0) is probably not going to be the one where the errors will be.
EDIT2: I highly doubt that ratpoison binary is in /usr/share/

The binary is in /usr/share/ for some reason.
It's loaded now, I have no idea why
Edit; I had uninstalled feh and it wasn't loading anything past that point. I'm stupid.
