Finally got my problems solved but...

I got xorg and my wifi working fine, but when I boot into Openbox, I can't use my wifi.  It says it's already connected, but I can't ping nothing or install anything.

Re: Finally got my problems solved but...

I do sudo /etc/rc.d/network restart and get this.

Stopping Network
/etc/conf.d/dhcpcd: line 5: -C: command not found
Starting Network
eth0: dhcpcd 4.0.2 starting
eth0: broadcasting for a lease
eth0: offered 192.168.1.106 from 192.168.1.1
eth0: checking 192.168.1.106 from 192.168.1.1
eth0: achnowledged 192.168.1.106 from 192.168.1.1
eth0: leased 192.168.1.106 for 86400 seconds

Before I had openbox autostart on bootup, my /etc/conf.d/dhcpcd file looked like this.

#
# Arguments to be passed to the DHCP client daemon
#

DHCPCD_ARGS="-q -L -t 30 -h $HOSTNAME" -C reslove.conf

That worked perfectly and I was able to use my wireless card to ping, surf, etc.  But now that I made a normal user and installed openbox, it doesn't work now.  It detects the card, but I can't ping, etc on it.  Anyone know the problem?

Re: Finally got my problems solved but...

Someone said to put this in /etc/resolv.conf.  I did and it worked, but now I look there and it's gone.  I readd it back into it and it just goes away when I restart and all.  Help me get wifi working in openbox.  Please.

I was told to put nameserver 208.67.222.222 in /etc/resolv.conf

Re: Finally got my problems solved but...

Put that in /etc/resolv.conf.head and it shouldn't go away.  It shouldn't be going away in the first place if you have the -C resolv.conf flag in your dhcpcd.conf.

Edit: I see, you've spelled resolv with an 'E' in your dhcpcd.conf line.  There's your problem.

Re: Finally got my problems solved but...

Well, what would make it go away then?  I'm adding it in as the ROOT user.

It's named resolv.conf in my dhcpcd.conf file.

Re: Finally got my problems solved but...

I saw it.  It's written as resolv.conf in the file, I just misspelled it on the forum.  Why would it say -C command nout found though?  It worked like 10minutes ago before I was booting into Openbox sad.

Re: Finally got my problems solved but...

What version of dhcpcd do you have?

Re: Finally got my problems solved but...

It's dhcpcd 4.0.2.  But I did something and now it's working.

Also, another question.  Is there a way to get my volume buttons, scrollbar on my touchpad on my laptop to work in openbox or is there no way to do that?

Re: Finally got my problems solved but...

For the scrollbar on the touchpad, read the synaptics wiki (chances are you have a synaptics touchpad).

For the other, look into xbindkeys or openbox keyboard shortcuts and xev.  I don't use openbox so I won't be of much help here.
