I passed the Linux+ certification this morning! Woo hoo!
I just wanted to say a big thank you to Arch Linux, without Arch I probably wouldn't have fell in love with using the terminal and would not have been able to pass.
So thank you to the devs and the whole community that builds and supports Arch
BTW, I grew a nice Linux beard before the test... not sure if it helped, but it probably didn't hurt.
The Internet...? Is that thing still around?

The key to your success lies in your Unix Beard.

Sweet! Nice going! I'm actually thinking about taking Linux+ at some point Looks like an easy win for me, besides knowing it's CompTIA.
Congratulations!

Chances are that it did.
You might be interested in this story. While not entirely related to linux, it does analyze the success of different programming languages in relation to facial hair of the writers.

Congrats! About how much did the exam cost to take? I've been thinking about getting certs and that was one of them.

It was USD 239. If the company you work for is registered with CompTIA you get some kind of discount, but mine wasn't. But at least they reimburse me for it

Hmm. A bit pricy but totally doable. Thanks for the info.

Not only CompTIA exams are pricey but I heard they were hard to pass for even the most technologically literate people. Hearing DeltaXFX get his certification because of using Arch Linux is like a golden ticket. Of course I'm being general here, the exams could be different for Linux+.

How hard were they?
I got a Linux+ book but I never really got into it. However, I wonder whether it is useful taking that kind of certification.
I do have the CompTIA A+ exam though I got it at 13, and now forgot everything we did

For the Job I'm applying for, a Linuux/Unix cert would make me an even better candidate. But Certs are way out of my budget range ATM

Lord Illidan, the Linux+ didn't seem that difficult, just being comfortable with the command line is what helped me the most I think. Which is why I'm happy Arch made me so comfortable with the command line. I also went over this study guide: http://www.proprofs.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8478
There were a few questions from each section of that study guide on the test.
That site has more info on the test itself here: http://www.proprofs.com/mwiki/index.php … _Resources
