error upgrading

i get this error when i am trying to upgrade my system

(55/55) checking for file conflicts                 [#####################] 100%
error: could not prepare transaction
error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
texlive-bin: /usr/bin/mex exists in filesystem
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

how do i fix this

Which package owns /usr/bin/mex?  (pacman -Qo /usr/bin/mex).

If a package from the repos owns it, then file a bug report.
If no package owns it, then it should be safe to delete and do your update.   Even better, just rename it so you still have the file if needed.
