However the drive passes a short self-test without error, and from the log it appears it passed the long self-tests run weekly as well. Also mdadm doesn't report the drive as failed (it is part of a RAID5). There appears to be nothing wrong with the drive beyond those two e-mails from smartd.
The drive is a 500GB seagate sata drive. How can there be 4294967295 offline sectors and it still seem to work fine?
