no space left on a device [SOLVED]

I am trying to install Arch, i havent yet installed any desktop.
When i try to install KDE i get the following message:

error writing to file blah blah blah no space left on device

and it refers to a folder in pacman cache.

I gave:

du -h /var/cache/pacman/pkg

and it showed me smthg around 500MB (obviously some packages from KDE were downloaded)

Then i gave:

du -sh /

and it gave me smthg like 1.5 gigs. I have given my '/' partition a 16GB size.

What could be wrong?
