Problem with chroot, firefox and java

Hello!

I've had a working arch64 installation for a couple of months now. Been using a chrooted 32bit firefox for surfing, with working java and flash.

But the other day, both java and flash stopped working. Got flash working again using the firefox plugin installer for flash, but it doesn't work for java.

I've tried reinstalling both jre and firefox, but it still doesn't work.

What to do?

/Ole

Java doesn't work for me in a 32 bit chroot either... No idea why.

Re: Problem with chroot, firefox and java

You may want to check out these packages if you want to run a 32-bit Firefox in a 64-bit environment:

1. bin32-swiftfox-athlon64
2. bin32-swiftfox-prescott (for Core Solo/Duo processors)
3. lib32-flashplugin
4. lib32-jdk

These are what I use for everyday browsing, and I don't need a chroot for these either.  Of course, these packages will install a bunch of lib32-* packages, so there are still some space requirements.  But I'm used to the 'multilib' environment and put these together for that purpose.

Good luck whichever way you decide to go!

solve the problem, it is caused by privilege in chroot system ... set 777 to all is a dirty solution..

Re: Problem with chroot, firefox and java

Have you been able to find which packages exactly require widened privileges in order to make Java work under 32-bit chroot environment?

Maybe there is a new turret, or some walls have moved. Or perhaps someone has temporarily removed the floor under your bed."
