Hi all,
first post in the forum and as an Arch user (not new to linux, though).
A silly simple question: is it possible to update the acronym dbs for wtf? I mean, is there a repository for an updated/extended version of the dbs anywhere?
Since time passes, I wish wtf will be up-to-date. Just today I searched for 2 acronyms not included in the list (FTW and FGSFDS); I'm just wondering if someone already thought of a wtf-update program (like pciids-update, for example).
Any ideas?
Thanks, regards,
PS: Where could I find some guides on where to post in Arch Forums? I'm pretty sure that I posted in the wrong place...

Welcome here. I guess you're in the right place.
Why don't you just look them up in the www? You'll have a "always-up2date" database there ;-). Though wtf is really cool...
So let's see. Do you already know about AUR? If that's not the case: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AUR . There is indeed a Version of wtf in the AUR, but I don't know whether its newer or not. Just try it out: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=9236 . Yeah, that should solve you're problem.
By leaning to use the AUR you'll love arch even more, I promise. Welcome to Arch

Mmh, it seems to have hit community...
In any case, thanks for the reply. I already know AUR and I think it is one of the best pros of Arch. I'm with Arch since some months and I have already fully configured a pair of boxes.
I expected the reply on the WWW being so up-to-date The wtf question is in fact silly, but when you don't have a 24/7 connection or simply prefer not to have to open a browser to find out that type of info, what would you do? Maybe I just have to write something to get the reply from Jargon/Urban Dictionary/something else
Thanks again, regards,

Sorry, I assumed you were complete new to Arch, so...
The 20071004 Version seems to be the latest anyway. Its the last package provided on the official site (http://www.mu.org/~mux/wtf/).
Write your own script is actually a possibility, but why starting something new, when there's already something there? You could just pick up the wtf sources and extend them to sync its database with an online-version?!? That would be awesome
