SLiM Problem

I put SLiM as a daemon and I have done everything in the wiki. But when the daemon loads, it fails and says x timeout 5 minutes, something like that. It goes too fast for me to see.

Re: SLiM Problem

Did you change the default runlevel to 3 in /etc/inittab?

## Only one of the following two lines can be uncommented!
# Boot to console
id:3:initdefault:
# Boot to X11
#id:5:initdefault:

You should only have your login manager set as a daemon, or set in /etc/inittab, but not both smile

Re: SLiM Problem

This is a common error too if a problem exists with your current SLIM theme.

Re: SLiM Problem

@peart: I tried both ways. Both don't work.
@thayer: What do you mean?

Re: SLiM Problem

It means you might have a problem with your theme files. Have you modified your theme or theme name?  If so, try reseting it to the default theme and see if that works.

Hey, what's the matter ? Console login not good enough anymore ? smile

The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner.

Re: SLiM Problem

I've had that problem too... IIRC it was a driver problem (graphic card)
Perhaps try another dm.
