USB drives mount read-only [SOLVED]

Greetings all

Since running "pacman -Syu" on 2008/10/27, I  now find that my two USB hard drives mount read-only. This is despite the fact that they appear in /etc/mtab as

/dev/sdb1 /media/USBdrive hfsplus rw,nosuid,nodev 0 0

As you can see, they are hfs+ volumes (non-journaled), which I have found to be a successful cross-platform filesystem in my linux/mac world.

Despite the fact that mtab says the disk is  "rw", I can't even write to it as root. I have confirmed that the drives are good and functioning normally.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance...

Re: USB drives mount read-only [SOLVED]

OK, this seems to be fixed now. After much Googling, I found that if I remounted the USB hfs+ volumes on my Mac and ran the Disk Utility over it to "repair" it (even though it said nothing was wrong), the drive is mountable read-write on the Linux box after that.

Maybe I wasn't giving the drive long enough to spin down after unmounting it on the Mac... roll
