I've hust done a pacman -Syu, anche then:
yaourt -Sy gdm

extra is up to date

error: cannot resolve "xorg-xsm", a dependency of "gdm"
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: gdm: requires xorg-xsm

Strange... "pacman -Si xorg-xsm" here shows that the current version has been in extra since mid 2006. Try a "pacman -Syy" and if that does not work, change mirror.

no changes, also after a pacman -Syy

I removed xorg-xsm one hour ago because it's no longer shipped with the xorg 7.4 release. With every package that I removed, I checked if anythign had dependencies (that's why libxp is still there), but with xorg-xsm I didn't expect something would depend on it...
