Sound issue for Realtek ALC650 chipset

I've read alot in the forums and tried I believe correctly to install this but I don't believe I'm getting the right module. Does anyone have an idea what module (if it's in the kernel) to use or do I have to go about finding the source? and compiling a module for loading? Any direction would help. I've installed the nvidia driver w/o any problems but I've ran out of options on this problem.    roll

Re: Sound issue for Realtek ALC650 chipset

I tried to load the via82xx module in modules.conf with my eth card and it still doesn't load. I don't have a "/dev/dsp" being loaded. I'll have to go back to the books and see just what I'm doing wrong. Perserverance will win out in the end! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. wink

Re: Sound issue for Realtek ALC650 chipset

Thanks for your help SARA but apparently I have to use the intel8x0 module for this chipset. Since I last posted I've been going back & forth fighting w/this issue and finally got it configured  right. Appreciate the assistance and my brother Aarons persistence. Works great w/Alsa and looking forward to trying the Alsa-xmms pkg out. Take care. See ya!  lol
