sluggishness

Just reinstalled ArchLinux on my laptop two days ago...still getting it all set up, but I'm using Gnome and in certain apps (namely Firefox), when I type something in, and it goes to autocomplete it, and I hit down-arrow, enter, my whole system freezes for a few seconds, with the HD light on, and I can't do anything...

It's not ONLY during those times...in fact it just did it while I was typing this message (no auto-complete at all)... HD light came on, and .. I could keep typing, but it wouldn't show..then it all showed at once, a few seconds later..

Never happened on my first install, and never happens on my desktop....

Should I reinstall Arch? Is it Gnome (i used OpenBox on my old install, and on my desktop)? What could it be, and how can I get rid of it?

Thanks for any help.

Re: sluggishness

Maybe try installing OB and see whether you've got the same behaviour.

Re: sluggishness

Do you have laptop-mode enabled? You might be waiting for the drive to spin up, its a pain.
