This is twisted, and I found a workaround, but I'd like to find out what broke.
I use a
ViewSonic VP2030b monitor and an
ASUS EN7300LE nvidia geforce 7300 pci-express video card.
Over the last few days I upgraded (-Syu) to xorg-server 1.5.3 in testing and kernel 2.6.27.5. Yesterday evening I rebooted this computer into Puppy Linux and pressed my monitor's "Auto Image Adjust" button.
This morning when I booted into Arch and started X, the monitor was blurry (vertical bars of blur about 100-150 pixels in width and 200 pixels apart). Changing from the VGA plug to the DVI one gives me a crisp display once more. I'd been using the VGA plug for over a year with no blur.
Do you know what went wrong? How can I find out? It seems too complex for me to find out how to replicate this "bug", or how to get rid of the blur with VGA.
