Hi,
Is there a way to adjust monitor color temperature? As notebooks surely don't have any buttons on the lid, should be a software thing.
Toshiba Satellite L40-14G, KDEmod 4.
Is it possible?

That's gamma, not color temperature.
(I've been looking for color temp adjustment for a while, as my laptop's screen is excessively blue-tinted... I know other X servers have had it.)

Ah, here's something that might be useful: argylllcms, a GPL color management system. Might not work with your monitor though. (But it is in the AUR.)
Edit: also, littlecms.

Thanks! Enough for starters. I've got an impression, though, that I'd better leave it alone, unless there's no way I can stand my color temperature any longer .

I've used argyllcms with the one of the cheap Huey colorimeters and it worked pretty well. I don't need professional grade color management, but I understand that argyll can provide this if you have the patience and hardware to get setup. Note that the target color temp is typically based on the type of work you'll be doing with the system. You can read more about that at the argyll docs page.
edit: spelling

Actually I just want my white color white, instead of bluish . There's a monitor handy which is "white" to my taste, so I'd like my notebook to show more or less the same.

I suppose you could play around with xgamma and see if you could reduce the blue channel. Note that laptop displays are notorious for having poor color.
