gdm 1080p small font

Hi fellas,

I got arch installed on my media pc hooked up to a 1080p lcd TV (using dvi to hdmi cabling).  The problem i have is that in gdm, the fonts are inscrutably small and unlegible.  They are just tiny...  I'm using 1920x1080 and the text look like little blotches in gdm.

Nonetheless, I can still login, and when in gnome, the fonts look normal sized.  The problem with ultra-miniscule font only seem to comeforth in the gdm login screen.

I tried with two graphics cards, ati9800pro and 7600gt, the drivers are installed correctly and xorg.conf is configured correctly to my knowledge.  X11 works, it's just gdm giving me some funny little  fonts.  My friend told me he's seen the same thing with Ubuntu on his lcdtv.  Anyone seen this before?  Thanks for your help.
