Can't create a partition

So this is my first attempt at installing Arch, and I ran into a problem pretty quickly.

I get to the partitioning screen, but there is no 'new' option for me to create new partitions with.  Do I need to boot gparted from a live CD and shrink my current partition to make some space first?  Or is there a way to do that resizing all within the Arch LiveCD.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Can't create a partition

I don't recall being able to shrink partitions when installing. When I installed Arch, the disk was prepared for formating, so maybe I overlooked it.

Gparted livecd is a dead simple (and i believe one of the safest) option to do the task you require. I used it recently to shrink one partition and grow another with that space, and all I can tell you is that if you have a big disk, don't plan using your computer for a while wink
