[gnome]Opening file causes application crash

after upgrade some packages(gtk, libcroco...) two days, now I have a problem with "open" file. Applications like geditor, rhythmbox, file-roller crash when I select "open" in the menu. It seems due to gtk unable to turn on open dialog, but I downgrage gtk to 2.4.9, problem remains. Anybody has met the same problem?

Re: [gnome]Opening file causes application crash

sounds like a pretty serious bug. i would suggest you take the time to report this. if the problem cannot be duplicated then we can probably trouble shoot for you.

Re: [gnome]Opening file causes application crash

I had this exact problem on gentoo way back in the day.  IIRC I just force-reinstalled all gnome libs (and gtk and all the fancy-schmancy gui libs)... I cannot recall for certain though... try checking gnome forums for info

I don't really know how to reproduce the problem in other environment, I am even not sure what causes it, I upgraded some package that days, first problem I meet is caused by libcroco but worked it around at that time, didn't notice any diffirent until I try to save a file in gedit, it crashed. I have to use vi or leafpad right now. I guess problem comes from gtk upgrade, because leadpad which uses gtk 2.2 file chooser was not effected. I am using gnome 2.6, gtk 2.4.10, Arch stock kernel 2.6.8.1. I compiled some evolution related package before, which maybe the root o fproblem too, I mean those packages confilects with new gtk packages, I am not sure.

Do you mean gnome forums in footnotes? I will go to look around.

Thanks both of you.

Re: [gnome]Opening file causes application crash

Now I know what causes the problem, it's SCIM package I compiled for chinese input. However it works before I upgrade, maybe something with gtk 2.4.10, I will try to contact the developer of SCIM, see possibility to fix it.

Re: [gnome]Opening file causes application crash

Upgrading to the latest version 1.0.1 solved the problem or re-compiled with gtk 2.4.10 do the same trick.
