One other thing I have noticed,

When using firefox, if I directly type an IP in the URL bar it usually works, is the problem something to do with URL IP resolving?

One more quick observation,

If I try to install something with pacman it times out,
Then I ping the mirror on the same computer,
The try to install the same thing, and it works.

# pacman -S emacs
...
...
connection timed out
#ping mirror.pacific.net.au
...
...
packet transmitted and recieved etc...
# pacman -S emacs
...
retrieving
...
installing
# _

Solved,

Problem was with my DLink router resolving the DNS wrong or something, solution from http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=56376

Now everything is working fine, thanks for all your help.
