Random freezes

Hello everybody,

I have quite an annoying problem that doesn't seem Linux related. I've used Windows Vista and Linux Ubuntu before starting to use Arch Linux, and all OS-es seem to have random crashes. I have checked my RAM with memtest and checked my harddisk with smartctl, both seem to be oke. I've always thought that this was some kind of ATI driver related problem. I checked my log files, and just before the crash this these are the errors I get:

Nov 15 11:53:41 wouterpc [fglrx] Reserved FB block: Shared offset:0, size:1000000
Nov 15 11:53:41 wouterpc [fglrx] Reserved FB block: Unshared offset:ff7a000, size:80000
Nov 15 11:53:41 wouterpc [fglrx] Reserved FB block: Unshared offset:fffb000, size:5000

I've Googled these errors, but non are giving me an answer I can work with.

This is my fglrxinfo:

OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO
OpenGL version string: 2.1.7873 Release

I absolutely love the Arch Linux distri BTW!

Regards,

~Phryxus

Re: Random freezes

Does this also happen if you use the free radeon/radeonhd/ati-driver working with your card?

Re: Random freezes

I haven't tries those yet, to be honest! Good idea though, if I can't find a solution with the proprietary drivers!

Re: Random freezes

Oke, I've set up the open source drivers and it seems to work oke (for now). I only can't get my dual monitor working. So I'm now working on that part!

Re: Random freezes

Dual monitor is set-up correctly! Now it's just waiting for nothing to happen. smile Thanks Rorschach!

PS. Is there a way to set xandr configuration by default? Now I have to go to the terminal each time I start my computer.
