awesome wm different settings on desktops

I'm just starting out on awesome-git and love it.
after messing my rc.lua up, I replaced it with my backup that's untouched extcept commenting out unix time.

So, I have aterm as my terminal with no boders etc, just the way I like it. But it only stays transparent on workspace 1.
As soon as I switch to any other ws it still opens aterm with all the settings, but is no longer transparent.

I don't know any lua, so it all looks a little greek atm, would my problem be in rc.lua, .Xdefaults or maybe  someplace else?

Also, are fonts for your shell handled via awesome or does your .Xdefault override them?

Re: awesome wm different settings on desktops

I found a temp workaround.
open a few terminals on desktop 1 and spread them over the other desktops.
I get the feeling it's a setting somewhere in rc.lua...

Anyone know how to chage the fonts for aterm, changing rc.lua and .Xdefaults has no effect at all.????

Re: awesome wm different settings on desktops

I have also observed this behaviour of aterm on our school machines - CentOS with Fluxbox, so it seems to me that the problem won't be in awesome config.

Re: awesome wm different settings on desktops

So switch to a different terminal emulator.
I'm sure there aren't things aterm does that others can't do.
