Well I must admit that I don't have many details to give you. On my archlinux Box (Testing) the latest banshee package it's not working as it should. This is the output of my comman line:
[Info 23:07:00.929] Running Banshee 1.4.0
[Warn 23:07:03.025] Impossibile connettersi a NetworkManager - Si presupporr\u00e0 una connessione di rete disponibile e funzionante
[Info 23:07:03.360] All services are started 2,142081s
[Info 23:07:03.897] nereid Client Started
The GUI appears but it's totally unresponsive.
Should I fill a bug report or am I the only one?
Thanks
Lorenzo

I have the same problem, and i've posted a bug report.
If you play banshee with --debug option it works well.

I think it would be easier to debug your message if it were written in english.

I found that if I force close Bansee during the first run (when it hangs), it will work fine after.
Now, if only tag editing did not crash it....

Ah, I thought I was the only one having that problem. Any idea on what's causing this?

I don't know why banshee crashes, but i've found a beatiful program.
Try easytag!

Yeah, I know. But this is a pretty annoying bug. I'll try to stick some time into it tonight, to at least find out which package is to blame.

i've had trouble ever since Gnome 2.24 with Banshee and Rhythmbox both crashing right after starting up.
I just want a music player that doesn't crash. is that asking too much?
I don't even care which one it is.
I'm currently using 'listen' and that doesn't crash as much

Downgrading gtk-sharp-2 to 2.12.5 apparently makes the crash-on-edit thing go away. I filed a bug against the 2.12.6 package. http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/12184

Rhythmbox works for me . I use it everyday and It is rock-solid/stable compared to the packages provided by other distros (Or maybe because the .11.x branch is maturing ) .
I don't use the testing repo so that might be the cause of your problems .
