Deleting words in xterm with Alt+d doesn't work ?

Usually it should be possible, I can do this in urxvt but not in xterm.

I've always liked the (emacs) command the delete words with Alt+d.
It works in console and urxvt but not in xterm.

When I try this I got this character: ä

What is the problem here I have no clue whatsoever ??

The nearest thing that comes to mind is to make changes in /etc/inputrc but I dont know if this is the right thing to do ?

I hate when things are not working properly in terminals and in consoles, so any hints are highly appreciated smile

Btw. I am danish but I dont think this is related to my keymaps.

Isn't that command usually bound to ctrl+w?

You need this in your ~/.Xdefaults

xterm*metaSendsEscape: true
