[SOLVED] startx...but how do I set the language for my Gnome session?

I'm trying to get rid of GDM (for no good reason...just curious...), but startx throws me into an English desktop... There's nothing wrong with that, but I'm learning Japanese and with GDM I can get a Japanese desktop. I don't want to change my locale in rc.conf though, because CJK characters are terribly messed up in the console.

Should I put some magical lines in ~/.xinitrc? People please help me out here smile

OK, turns out that the magical line is no other than: export LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 &&
