I can't get speech working with orca screen reader.
It does work in Ubuntu.
My soundcard is Realtek High Definition Audio ALC888S.
At first at boot it failed to recognize any soundcard (alsa failed to load), but oddly my sounds still worked.
I did alsaconf, and it doesn't fail anymore.
So everything should be fine with sound now, I think.
But Orca's setup keeps saying that there's no speech available. Why?
Orca comes by default with gnome, and I have installed gnome and gnome-extras...
Also, any suggestions for other screen readers are very welcomed.
Also: sorry for my bad english.

Your english is just fine.
Have you tried Emac-Speech (or Emac-Speak, not sure which name is right, will have to look it up later)? Are you aware of Klaus Knoppers newest endeavour, (see this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adriane_Kn … e_Knoppix) ? Unfortunately the only distro for the visually impaired that I knew of is no longer being worked on (Oralux) or I'd say you may wish to look at it and see how they implemented the screen reader they used.
Did you blacklist the snd-pcsp module in rc.conf? If not, that may be what is interfering.
I hope this helps you.
