[PSEUDOSOLVED]umask bug in latest sudo release?

edit 2

Bah, double-edit.

I've tracked down the problem now. I'd originally thought that this was something to do with abs because that's where it first became apparent. Sorry for this being in the wrong forum now.

My local user's .bashrc has a umask line:

umask 0077

I've had this in there nearly since I installed Arch and I've never had a problem with it. Now, presumably since the last update of sudo, both sudo and su apply the umask to everything. So far this has led to problems with the pacman database and the abs tree, and probably a whole lot more that I have yet to notice. Is this a bug or some new insane "feature"? I'll file a report if it's a bug, but I want to check if anyone else has come across this.

Also, how can I "fix" the permissions that I've inadvertently changed?

Well, it's a "feature":

sudo changelog wrote:

670) When setting the umask, use the union of the user's umask and the
default value set in sudoers so that we never lower the user's
     umask when running a command.
