I am using pm-utils and am able to suspend to disk and ram properly.
Now I want to suspend or hibernate automatically based on inactivity and battery condition of my laptop.
Are there any scripts to do it? I am using KDEMOD4 and there is no power management program yet which works like klaptop or kpowersave, I like the scripts anyway.
Thanks

Somewhat old thread, but still unanswered....laptop-mode-tools will get the auto suspend/hibernate on low battery, but I still can't find anything (other than the gnome power management tools -- using lxde/openbox so I'd rather not ) that will trigger an event after X min of inactivity. Xscreensaver has options for the display, but not actually suspending the machine (at least not that I found).
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Scott

xautolock. It's available in the AUR and is intended to run a screen lock program such as slock, but realistically it can execute anything based on a period of inactivity in X. Hope this helps

There's a nice package I've been using from Debian, which sounds to do the same thing, but doesn't require X to be running. It's called sleepd. I just uploaded to AUR: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=21830.

Well, how about ramping up the complexity a bit: would there be an easy way to adjust the above methods to NOT trigger the auto suspend if either there was music playing or there was a backup (rsync) in progress? I guess having a script for the -killer flag in xautolock that just checked if rsync was running (ps -e | grep rsync) would take care of that, but how would you check if there was music playing (rather than just checking that the player was opened)? I don't see a command line switch for amarok or mpd/mpc that seems particularly helpful.
Ideas?
Thanks,
Scott
