Hello Archers,
So I have my computer set up so it'll automatically log me in and startx when I turn it on. However, most of the time when X starts (although not always), it doesn't seem to finish setting up. It should be starting openbox and everything, but instead I get stuck with nothing other than the little cross cursor thing. The keyboard does respond to Ctrl + Alt + Backspace, which drops me into vc/1 and wants me to log in ... but from there the keyboard is almost completely unresponsive (if I try to type in my username, it'll maybe catch the first 2 characters and then stop). If I Ctrl+Alt+F2 from that, I can log in just fine, but a startx leads me back to the same problem. Although, it seems if I edit some root-owned file (and it seems to work with any file), save it, and startx ... everything works just fine. I can even go comment/uncomment out whitespace in my /etc/X11/xorg.conf and that will cause things to work.
At first I thought this was some weird issue with the xf86-video-intel driver, as I was using a recent git version. However, I've dropped back down to the 2.5.1 version (which is what I was using before all this stuff started. I had no problems with this version), but the problem now continues. So I'm really confused as to what's happening here, and I don't even know what to look for in past forum topics ... so sorry if this thread is a duplicate.
Here's an Xorg log ... but I can't find anything wrong. My video card is an Intel 4500MHD, so I don't think it's well supported yet ... but still ... this problem didn't exist before >.>
