No more USB auto mount

For some reason my USB flash disks & external HD no longer automount when I plug them in.

It worked fine two days ago, in the meantime I did some updates so I'm not sure if that is the cause.

lsusb shows the device is there.

Using Arch64+KDEmod

I was having the same problem after an upgrade.  In the course of tracking down the problem, I ended up reading this WIKI entry.  It described hal's role in the automount system.  The first thing the WIKI said to install was pmount.  I did a pacman -Q pmount and discovered I didn't have it installed.  After installing pmount and then a reboot, my problem went away, for now anyway.

Check and see if you have pmount installed.  Worked for me.  According to the WIKI, you need udev, hal, dbus (loaded by hal), pmount, and a volume-manager.  In my case, gnome-volume-manager.  In your case, whatever KDE uses for a volume-manager.  Make sure you have all of these installed, and that you don't have both hal and dbus in the DAEMONS line of /etc/rc.conf
