Laptop X Resolution

Hey guys, yet another laptop question -
Currently, I have everything installed on my laptop, and everything but wireless is working fine, but that's not the issue.  No matter what modes I provide in the xorg.conf for my display, I am given a max of 1024x768.  Under Windows, my display defaults to 1400x1050 (17" widescreen) and I'd like to use this same resolution, or better if I could, however X doesn't want to listen.

xvidtune will not change it either... any ideas?

Re: Laptop X Resolution

I had the same problem some time ago when I change to 17" PC monitor, and solved it by experimenting with different setting with "xorgcfg -textmode". Check if you have the correct vga card and xserver, and also try to change the monitor setting.

Re: Laptop X Resolution

I've found some info, and will test it when I get home:

Modeline "1440x900" 106.47 1440 1520 1672 1904 900 901 904 932 -HSync +Vsync

but this requires the nvidia option IgnoreEdid "true"

for the record this is a HP Pavillion zd7000 series
