Hi,
I have some backup DVD to burn, but I get error messages. DVD is listed as DVD-RAM GSA-H40N.
CD/DVD Creator:
Error writing to disc
Brasero:
Please replace the disc with a supported CD or DVD
It is not possible to write with the current set of plugins
I need to check/install driver or plugin but I don't know what to check and where.
Help please
Thanks.

OK, I need to assign correct group here or to adjust hal rights, "sudo brasero" does the work.
Does this help? I would like to burn DVDs without using sudo.

You should add yourself to optical group
sudo gpasswd -a YOURUSERNAME optical

sudo gpasswd -a YOURUSERNAME optical
I second this. However, if you have already done this, it's possible that you have some sort of strange controller that doesn't work properly with disc burning. I had a Silicon Image PCI-E SATA controller once that would not allow burning in either Windows or Linux. I switched it for a (same brand) PCI version and everything works. Go figure.

Already done that
Worked in Windows several months ago and up to yesterday in Ubuntu
Checked again, I am in optical. Is there something else I could check?
Thanks.

Sorry guys, I have to bump this - it's annoying.
Any ideas?

Run brasero from the command line with the --debug flag and post some relevant output.

You, Sir, have some remote problem fixing powers
It works now. Nothing is changed but I had big xorg/gnome update last night - that must have fixed a problem.
