Yesterday I upgraded to a Samsung 23" widescreen monitor (2343 WBX) that says the optimal resolution for it is 2048x1158 @60Hz. I have a EVGA 6200 card that supports the following resolutuions (from the spec in manual)
8bit 16 bit 32 bit
...
1600 x 1200 120Hz 120Hz 100Hz
1920 x 1080 100Hz 100Hz 85Hz
1920 x 1200 100Hz 100Hz 85Hz
1920 x 1440 85Hz 85Hz 75Hz
2048 x 1536 75Hz 75Hz 60Hz
I tried to increase the resolution by adding the following to the Screen section
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0"
Device "Device0"
Monitor "Monitor0"
DefaultDepth 24
Option "TwinView" "0"
Option "metamodes" "1920x1440 +0+0"
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
EndSubSection
EndSection
But it doesn't work saying unable to validate modes for 1920x1440 and falls back to nvidia-auto-select and the maximum resolution is always 1680 x 1050. Part of the output of Xorg.0.log is attached below. Can someone please help me with how to set up the xorg.conf in this case?
Thanks in advance.
