Hello,
Looking through the wiki here:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Cpufrequtils
It says the the daemon is needed....
I have installed cpufrequtils and I have set my computer to "ondemand" with cpufreq-set. I have set my MODULES to automatically do this as well.
I have checked that indeed it is in "ondemand" mode with cpufreq-info. The CPU frequency went all the way down as I expected when there was no load.
So now I ask, why is the daemon needed? I checked "ps -aux" and found that the daemon didn't automatically turn on or anything so why do I need it?
Additionally in the wiki, I see it notes to have something like this:
MODULES=(acpi-cpufreq cpufreq_ondemand cpufreq_powersave ...)
Do I need to have "cpufreq_powersave" in there if I'm only using "ondemand"?
Thank you,
LiteHacker

Okay I figured it out. On boot it doesn't automatically configure without the daemon.

i think that if only loading the module corresponding of the frequency we want gets the behavior of the daemon, am i wrong? do we need to load all the modules of cpufreq?
