sound problems

Hi,

Some programs on my system are having problems playing sound.
I get full sound from anything running on kde 4.1 or from Battle for Wesnoth but not from most other programs.
I have ALSA installed. No error messages are produced.

Has anyone got a clue what's going on?

Re: sound problems

Some odd things have happened to people's sound since awhile ago when the snd_pcsp module was introduced and if you don't blacklist it by adding MODULES=(!snd_pcsp) in /etc/rc.conf, strange things can happen.  Just a guess, though.

Re: sound problems

that wasn't the problem but when I tested it, all the sound broke as predicted.
I wasn't quite accurate in saying that there are no error messages as when I run Wesnoth, on which the sound works, KDE claims that the device it had been using was not working and that it was falling back.
