no sound in grip?

anyone else have this problem? the tracks are showing up and the time counter starts, but no sound. CDs play fine in xmms. :?:

do i definitely need the cd-to-sound card cable for that? for xmms i used the other method using the cdparanoia plugin described in the wiki (which i can't find now -- who messed up the wiki? tongue)

Re: no sound in grip?

xmms uses a digital cd reader... that is it reads the data from the cd and sends it to the speakers internally.... this is due to an xmms plugin (you can shut it off)
i have no clue what "grip" is, but check to see if you can turn off analog mode (analog mode is simpler and DOES require the cd to sound card cord)

Re: no sound in grip?

oh as in "gee" "rip" - i was thinking grip as in a handle....

I'm a fan of ripperX... nice and small.... I used to have a small shell script to do command-line ripping which was nice...lot's of "up" "enter" "up" "enter"
