Python 3 has just been released.
Arch linux as a bleeding edge distro will adopt python 3 sooner or later.
Can i know what are developers or TU plans or python 3?
i am in no hurry to install python 3.
Just wish to know what's the plan as several of my daily application uses python.

archlinuxsagi, I asked the same question three threads down from you...

You just said you were in no hurry. Besides, if you use python applications on a daily basis, that's all the more reason for you to want Allan to wait as long as possible before replacing the python 2.x branch that applications currently use with python 3. Read the #python topic on freenode. Python 3.0 is for developers to port their apps to the 3.x branch. There won't really be enough third-party support for python 3 until 3.1

yup.. to me 6 months times is good.. more time for me to catch up with arch linux frequent updates.
It was never a sarcastic remarks.. :-)
I will never redicule Arch developers and TU as to me they have done a very good job with pacman, netcfg2 and other stuff.

Ah, okay, good to hear. Tone gets misinterpreted online very easily. Major projects like django are predicting several years until their port to python 3 is complete, so I doubt Allan will be able to make python3.0 the main python executable in just six months.

I work with python on a daily basis for my clients and to be honest I do not want to jump to Version 3.0
As Guido and some of the "key" developers have mentioned "there is no rush" to go to py3.
I personally intend to stay with the 2.x branch for at least 1 year. I'll use from future import your_module_here to simplify upgrading later but I'm not rushing into it. There are so many modules I use from 3rd. parties that are not imported yet (and may not be imported for over a year) that I would only add aggravation to my programming days by switching.
