So i got a Laptop
I was wondering if there was a Acpi patch that works with Gnome in X? So i can see how much power is left?

There's no such thing as an ACPI patch for "Gnome + X". In fact, if you're using Kernel 2.6, you don't need to apply any patch at all.
Try something like
cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/state
to see the charge state of your battery.
If that works, search for a battery monitoring program on freshmeat.net. I can't give you any suggestions on that, because I don't use Gnome.

you can use the battery monitoring applet in gnome, for it to work though you need to install acpid and add acpid to the daemons line of rc.conf

Sorry, but what's ACPID got to do with battery monitoring?
You just need that if you want to process certain events (lid close, power button, ...).

Well, the original poster did ask about ACPI and then more specifically about seeing "how much power is left".
and it is always possible that the gnome applet depends on acpid (it may send events or something to that effect), though I've never used it so I don't know...
either way, I would suggest isntalling acpid as well.
