It must be said that the X.org 7.4 issues are hardly the devs' fault. There are some big changes upstream, so configurations had to change, and it's pretty clear from where I'm sitting that performance simply isn't as good as the old one, no matter what you do. But of course, the Arch devs get the blame.
That's spot on. Sometimes upstream do things that won't be compatible with existing configs. Or changes will obsolete what people are using now. These packages have to be released eventually, they can't be held indefinitely in testing.
And every time, no matter how much warning is given, some people complain. But that's the way Arch is - to provide the latest packages, things have to break.

Personally Arch has only ever 'broken' twice for me because of a pacman -Syu over the past year and a half, and even then it only took 5 minutes to fix. Keep up the excellent work devs! ![]()

But you have to see the great advantage of a virtual cookie.
Are these advantages worth not having something real to eat, though?

Looking at the big picture, one little bump doesn't faze me in the least... ![]()
As mentioned, it's definately NOT the devs fault, and they shouldn't have to take the heat for it. Everyone also has a choice to upgrade, or not. It's been so long since I have had any hiccups, it was a nice change of pace

But you have to see the great advantage of a virtual cookie. It mainly comes down to two things:
1. It's copyable to all the devs in a couple of milli seconds, noone is left out.
2. It's your own imagination that sets the limit to how big the cookie realy are
Well, it seems I have to take it virtually then. *starts imagination trip*

Hi all, first post on Forum :-))
Just to thank you, Arch guys, for the great job performed.
Plenty of virt. cookies for you all.
...never noticed a problem in updates. Just some reconfig.
But people tend to forget their responsibility in upgrading their systems as well as the criticality/complexity of those upgrades.
Just continue that way...the Arch Way!!!
