ok this is what i know:
1. s2ram & s2disk work fine.
2. made a file /etc/pm/config.d/config with SLEEP_MODULE="uswsusp".
3. pm-suspend is set now to uswsusp because "pm-suspend --help" returns:
pm-suspend [options]
s2ram video quirk handler options:
and still - pm-suspend does not work (and so as gnome-pm etc...)
after playing around, i discoverd if i comment out "do_suspend()" in /usr/lib/pm-utils/module.d/uswsusp it works! (same for "do_hibernate()") but this is a BAD idea and probebly a hack (this make "pm-suspend --help" suspend as well! and if both commented out, the laptop, after returning from suspend - hibernates).
so what are those "do_suspend()" and "do_hibernate()" commands? and what should i do?
thanks!

What about using pm-utils as it comes? I mean without making the SLEEP_MODULE change. Does pm-suspend work OK then?

heh, no. that's why i installed uswsusp - and it does work fine.
anonther wierd thing is, before i installed uswsusp, pm-suspend didnt work, but FN+F1 on the keyboard did suspend, so my guess is that "do_suspend()" func also messed that up, and if i would use the direct command for suspending using kernel space it probebly would work.

echo -n "mem" >/sys/power/state suspends! this is wierd. there is somthing wrong in pm-utils...
ok when i commented out "init_logfile "${PM_LOGFILE}"" in /usr/sbin/pm-suspend thing started moving....
EDIT: GOT IT!! F**ING WICD!!! - IF WICD IS INSTALLED BUT NOT USED - PM-UTILS FAILES! HAH!
good old pacman fixed it... pacman -R wicd

Yes, you should post a bug: the wicd hook should check that wicd is running, and be disabled if it isn't

if you dont have wicd installed you dont have the excat same thing, you have a diffrent problem with pm-utils, try looking at /var/log/pm-suspend.log for answers.
btw, this bug was filed at pm-utils and wicd and is fixed in the latest wicd svn.

It's an old topic. Open a new one and, preferably, provide more information.

What information you need, and where I can find more information about that event? Log files provides nothing.

For one, I don't know if you can use the system after resume or if it instantly freezes.
Start a new topic, anyway - this one is marked solved, people won't notice your problems.
