xorg and framebuffer

I compile my own kernels and I was wondering if it is useful to xorg to compile a framebuffer into the kernel, and if so, what one has to do to set it up for xorg or if it is done automatically.

Re: xorg and framebuffer

So far as I know, a having framebuffer makes no difference to xorg. However, having a framebuffer will make things much nicer for you should you choose to boot to a TTY, as you'll be able to set greater color depth, set higher screen resolutions (and therefore get smaller font sizes), and display images.
