I've installed the latest x86_64 version from source, but when i open vmware, firefox says it cant connect to 127.0.0.1:8333
I'm at a loss...this seems to be the only thing standing in the way...everything installed fine.

The problem is that the service vmware-hostd is not running on port 8333 and 8307.
In which way do you start vmware?

I had been trying to start vmware with "vmware" after starting the vmware daemon.

ok i got the web interface working...i starting playing with the daemons that were installed and it started working...I'm going to stop all of them and see if i can reproduce it systematically
Offline
well...i tried to install xp as a vm multiple times and it ended up getting extremely slow...so i got fed up and looked for alternatives and found virtualbox, which worked immediately, and works great for xp...now i can use dreamweaver yay
I'm impressed with virtualbox..I remember trying it awhile ago in windows and i was a pain...but it seems in linux it is really great or they've just made major changes.
