Hello! After the recent xorg-server update one of the problems I got was that when I close the lid of my laptop (it is configured to turn off the screen) the system just freezes and the screen never turns on again... I try to change TTY, press ctrl-alt-bkspc, even press 1 time the poweroff button (that usually shuts down the system gently) but nothing happens. Anyone with the same problem?

Yup, I have the same issue here. Not really sure how to fix it yet.

I don't have this problem, but I noticed a few new events in /var/log/messages.log like
Dec 9 12:38:28 Tachychineta logger: ACPI group/action undefined: video / LCD
Dec 9 13:44:45 Tachychineta logger: ACPI group/action undefined: video / VID
Maybe your problem is related to these new events. Or maybe I am completely wrong.

Guess I'm experiencing the same problem, I tried to post it here but I wasn't successful.

I also have similar problem, and I've also seen something similar coming up on the ML:

Seems to be dpms blanking issue.

Same here.

Interestingly enough, on a fresh boot, Xorg runs in tty8, instead of running in the usual tty7. It also takes very long to come up after the boot sequence. Could it be that it's crashing and then running another instance immediately after?
Anybody else have something similar?

Similar problem here. Everything seems to freeze, but Ctrl + Alt + Backspace kills X and returns me to GDM. Anybody find a solution to this?

I was able to fix my problem by installing acpid and messing around with the gconf settings in apps > gnome-power-manager > lock. YMMV.
