Hi all,
it is impossible to unlock network-admin, services, users and groups in gnome.
Suggestions or ideas?
Thanks in advance

Well, using sudo didn't solve my problem, and in /var/log/messages aren't any messages that point to the problem.
Opening the apps as root is no use. The menus are grey and i can't edit the entries.

Well, if you use sudo, you need to indicate it in the "Privilege granting" menu (System > Preferences > Privilege granting).
See if that solves the issue...

Having the same problem here. Everything was fine up to about a week ago, some recent update changed this.

Might be barking up the wrong tree but try adding this to /etc/PolicyKit/PolicyKit.conf
<config version="0.1">
<define_admin_auth group="wheel"/>
<match user="root">
<return result="yes"/>
</match>
</config>

Ok, i edit the PolicyKit.conf, but it is still impossible to unlock the apps (network-admin, services....)

Was having same issue, don't really care personally as I don't really use the features and am going off gnome eventually, but decided to check into it since it may help others. For me, the upgrade of gnome-system-tools from 2.22.0-3 to 2.22.1-1 is what broke them. Downgrading fixes the issue. (As a side note, I find it humorous that yaourt informs me of the unneeded dependency of nautilus after the gnome-system-tools removal)

Any news about this problem?
In the bug report #12164 Allan meant to start it like this
dbus-launch network-admin
but it doesn't help.

I'm going crazy
Today i reinstallad Arch, and rebuild system-backend-tools from abs, and without any changes in polkit-gnome-authorization i'm able to unlock network-admin.
Don't know why, but it seems to be solved (for me).

Yeah, well, i installed system-tools-backnends from abs and now i can unlock services-admin, users-admin, etc, but no matter what, they dont do nothing (i mean, services-admin has no effect on services, users-admin shows no users, etc.)...
Would completely uninstalling and reinstalling gnome be of any help? (I remember it to work in a virtual machine i had with arch, but never got this to work in "real" arch)...

Same defcon, I rebuild system-backend-tools and unlock button back works.

Just fyi, rebuilding system-tools-backends with ABS does not fix issue for me.

Are you put your login user on group stb-admin, put stbd in DAEMONS on rc.conf and restart the computer?

This error is related to sudo not keeping XDG_SESSION_COOKIE env variable
Add the following to /etc/sudoers
Defaults env_keep += "XDG_SESSION_COOKIE"

yes, although didn't have stbd in DAEMONS before (worked fine), still didn't fix issue. Been watching this thread, just downgraded package again, works great. I'd rather not downgrade on principal, but that the only thing that works for me currently, so...
