ath5k problems

Hi All,
I've got a Compaq CQ50 with a Ath5k wireless card. On the last kernel upgrade my wireless card started to mess around.
When i boot my laptop now i have to run the following
ifconfig wlan0 up
Press the wireless button on the laptop repeat 3 times

Is anyone else having the same problem.
I was also wondering if there is any way to get the wireless light to switch to blue once the wireless is active?
