Xfce4: Replate Thunar

How (and) can I replace Thunar with something more "light"?

Thunar probably depends on xfce libraries, mcs stuff etc.  If you want to get rid of that, you should get rid of Xfce entirely (which is exactly what I did)

I don't know if current XFCE versions support this, but back in the days when I was fiddling with it, the easiest way was to introduce a fake symlink, e.g.

sudo mv /usr/bin/thunar /usr/bin/Thunar
sudo ln -s /usr/bin/pcmanfm /usr/bin/thunar

PCmanFm seems to be the likeliest candidate, as it's general mode of operation is pretty similar to thunar. Rox is also rather leightweight, but its operation is a bit more idiosyncratic, involving lots of drag-and-drop and automatic window resizing.
Both rox and pcmanfm are able to manage desktop icons, so you could get rid of xfce entirely and just use something like openbox as a window manager and whatever applications suit your fancy.

Other file managers:
xfe - looks like Windows Explorer, for those who like that. Pulls in the FOX GUI library, which is another dependency that's not likely to be used by other applications and probably makes this application visually different.
worker - Amiga DOpus clone (think Norton file manager with lots of buttons instead of F1-F10). Uses a home-brewn widget set, so it's another non-orthodox look.
