So I cycled my arch machine this morning, and I get a lovely greeting message right after a brief "loading grub." I've increased the timeout to a large number, but grub seems to fail right as it's loading. Recently did a pacman -Syu a few days ago. My disks do seem to be in fine order, with no /var/log/messages issues, and I can mount it using a live cd. Ideas?
EDIT:
It seems the mbr was corrupted... although I'm not dual booting. Basically:
1. Started the liveCD
2. su; grub
3. find /boot/grub/stage1
4. root (hd0,0) (output of above)
5. setup (hd0) (output of stage 3, less second arg
reboot!
Thanks to http://log.xbsd.nl/2007/05/grub-recovery.html I didn't even get to play with super grub disk
