My ABS tree is always a day or two behind in update versions..

Is this normal? Does the ABS tree always lag behind the updates.

I use pacbuilder-svn as my default package manager. And I always update my ABS tree before I run the "pacbuilder -Suv" command. But it usually has the old pkg versions in all of the PKGBUILDs, so then I have to edit them or wait a few days.

For example, these were today's updates for me:

bash
libpcap
ppp
libx86

None of them had the correct PKGBUILD versions. I was able to edit both of the PKGBUILDS for libx86 and libpcap because they were simple, but other PKGBUILDS come with other files that also need to be updated so an edit to the PKGBUILD won't always fix it.

I know this doesn't really matter, I guess I can always be patient and wait for a few days.... it just seems that every time I upgrade with "pacbuilder -Suv" I have to do it again with the edit option or wait for a few days.

ABS gets synced one a day.  So you should be fairly up to date.

Would mirror preference have anything to do with the way the ABS tree is synced?

Not unless you are using the -t option.  The default is to rsync directly from the Arch server.
